Fudgy Brownie recipe

In a sea of cravings, this is my "almost-always"...

Basically, every time I am craving something sweet and chocolatey, I almost always feel for brownies. So I bake them!

What's your "almost-always" dessert cravings?

I decided to film a short video tutorial and give you the recipe for the brownies I make for my small dessert business. They are Julicious Desserts approved!! (all my customers say so too 💕)

While most from-scratch brownie recipes call for all butter and melted chocolate, to make this more affordable, I sub half the butter quantity with vegetable oil and use cocoa powder.

Here is a the tutorial and the recipe below:

You will need:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 cup flour
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder, sifted
- 1 tsp instant coffee powder
- 1 cup chocolate chips/ chunks

  • Start by melting your butter and add your vegetable oil. When it is cooled slightly, add your vanilla extract and sugars and whisk thoroughly.
  • Add in your eggs one at a time, whisking after each addition.
  • Next add in your flour mixture (flour, coffee and sifted cocoa powder). Use a spatula to fold in mixture.
  • Before all your flour is fully incorporated, add in your chocolate pieces. You can skip this step or add in any complimentary ingredient of your choice such as nuts, candies, caramel, oreos etc.
*I used a combination of 1/2 semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1/4 cup butterscotch chips and 1/4 cup white chocolate chips.
  • Fold in chocolate, but be careful not to overmix!
  • Grease and line a 9x9 baking pan with parchment or wax paper and evenly spread mixture into pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 350F for 20-25 minutes, checking at the 20 minute mark. The edges of brownies should be firm while the center should still be soft.
  • Cool in pan for 5 minutes and remove onto a wire rack to cool for an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour (if you can wait that long)

Cut into 12-16 squares and enjoy!!

Happy Baking!!

Crème Brûlée for One (No Bake)

Crème Brûlée is one of my all-time favorite desserts!! I absolutely love and almost always order it when I eat at restaurants that offer it.

A while back I purchased a blowtorch and had great fun making Crème Brûlée for my dessert business.

But the recipe I used usually made about ten 9 oz. cups of the Crème mixture and there were days that I just felt like eating one.

So I played around with a few techniques and managed to scale the recipe down to make enough for one and also develop a recipe that required no baking!

Disclaimer: A traditional Crème Brûlée requires the Crème to be baked in a water bath and then to be set for a few hours, preferably overnight. This recipe was developed to have the same taste of a Crème Brûlée and satisfy cravings without having to bake in the traditional method.

Five 5-Ingredient or Less Desserts

Desserts are my forté. I mean, I even have a dessert business 😅

But sometimes, I am way too tired making complicated desserts that I desperately seek out simple recipes that require minimal ingredients.

In light of this, I've compile a short list of my favorite recipes that require 5-ingredients or less!!

2-ingredient Chocolate Cookies

When you are craving something, you will find the laziest and easiest way that requires a minimal amount of effort.

This was me during that monthly craving period of my life. (Ladies, you feel me!)

I was desperately in need of something chocolatey and didn't want to just resort to eating plain chocolate chips from a bag... Though I did sneak a few.

I did some research online and found that you can make cookies with just two ingredients so I decided to put it to the test!

For the cookies you will need:

- 2 oz. or 1/3 milk chocolate chips or chopped milk chocolate
- 2 tbsp AP flour

Chocolate Cupcakes for Two

I am a big fan of small-batch/ small-scale recipes!

Sometimes you just have that slight craving for a specific dessert or food but you don't want to make a huge amount that can potentially be wasted.

One of the first small batch recipes I started playing around with were Chocolate Cupcakes!

In the beginning of starting my dessert business, I would get a lot of requests for customers who may want to mix a few different flavors in one order. In light of this, I developed this recipe that makes exactly 4 Chocolate cupcakes (and it's also eggless!). 😊

1 dozen Chocolate Chip Cookies

I love Chocolate Chip cookies! My favorites are the really soft ones that are slightly golden on the edges.

Most recipes I've encountered make a really big batch of cookies, usually around 2 and a half dozens. While you can freeze the extras, I've decided to share my recipe for 1 dozen cookies, just incase that's all the ingredients one might have on hand.

Now bear in mind that my recipe produces cookies which are more on the soft and cakey side but they can slightly crisp up the longer you leave it in the oven.

*If you want crispier cookies, substitute half the quantity of butter with vegetable shortening and replace half the quantity of brown sugar with white granulated sugar.

Cinnamon-Glazed Banana Bread Donuts

Hello my lovelies!

So Friday 2nd June was declared as National Donut Day!

On that day I made Cinnamon-glazed Banana bread donuts and I posted a picture to Instagram and asked whether you guys wanted to me to post the recipe.

A few you all did, so this is for you guys! 💓

*These donuts are baked and I used a donut pan that I bought. I will leave a link on how to make your own donut pan/ molds after the recipe :)

No-bake 4 ingredient Chocolate Peanut butter cups

Without a doubt, my favorite candy has to be Reese's Peanut butter cups!
Chocolate and Peanut butter is one of my most loved food combinations (yes I consider this a food group 😅).

Sometimes I get these random cravings for PB cups but not all the time do I have Reese's on hand.

So, to satisfy my sweet tooth, I decided to create a small batch recipe for no-bake 4 ingredient Chocolate Peanut butter cups!

This recipe makes 3 regular sized PB cups or 2 regular sized + 2 minis.

Crazy Chocolate cake

Ever had a craving for a fluffy, rich chocolate cake but had limited ingredients?

Well owning a dessert business means that I can have quite the sweet tooth. Sometimes I am in a pinch to make a cake or really have some late night cravings for chocolate.

Usually, after making cakes for my customers, I am sometimes left with a few key ingredients to bake for myself.

So, I decided to adapt my regular 2-layer six inch chocolate cake recipe to be made WITHOUT eggs, butter and milk!

Gluten-free, lactose-free Carrot cupcakes (with DIY Oat flour)

We all have family and friends (even ourselves) who are allergic to gluten or on a gluten-free diet. But a lot of times, people are unsure of what exactly is gluten.

Gluten is basically a generalised name for the proteins that exist in wheat and other grains. It acts as a glue that holds the food together and is also what gives dough its elasticity. Having a gluten intolerance means that a person's digestive system is unable to break down the gluten protein which can lead to mild symptoms such as bloating and gas or even serious effects like damaged intestines, allergies and celiac disease.

When my cousin was having some allergic reactions and digestive issues, he decided to stay away from gluten and lactose in order to determine whether he was affected by the two. In many gatherings, he was unable to eat a lot of foods provided until we found a cheap alternative through oat flour.

While many gluten-free flours exist on the market, they can be quite expensive. Oat is a cheap, readily available substitute that can be used in many gluten-free recipes.
